 Feeling on top of the world By Ricky Lo The Philippine Star 03/29/2006 Scheduled at 4 p.m., the open-air Christian wedding of Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago last Monday (March 27) at the Tagaytay Highlands in Tagaytay City started one hour late because of a slight drizzle. "Did Gretchen pray for rain?" joked the woman seated beside us. Gretchen Barretto, Claudine’s estranged sister, was the only member of the Barretto Family unaccounted for. According to reports, she wasn’t invited. "It’s a good sign," said the officiating pastor, Robert Hern, one of four pastors from the Victory Christian Fellowship (of which the bride and the groom are members; the three others prayed over the couple). "It means a shower of blessings." It was a strictly invitational affair, with the 300 or so guests dressed to the nines, the ladies in gowns and the gentlemen in black tie (as required), among them Richard Gomez, Kris Aquino and James Yap, Jaclyn Jose, Carmi Martin, Onemig Bondoc, Paolo Contis, Nikki Valdez, Rica Peralejo, Mons Romulo Tantoco and husband Sander, Bearwin Meiley, Sharon Cuneta with bosom buddy Philip Cuazon, Maricel Laxa and husband Anthony Pangilinan, Piolo Pascual with mom Amy Pascual (his co-star in the Selecta commercial), Dr. Vicki Belo and her beloved Joey Santos, direk Chito Roño and Luis Manzano (who came as proxy for his mom Vilma Santos, one of the principal sponsors, who was in Rome with husband Sen. Ralph Recto for the ordination of Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales). So exclusive was the affair that, before the guests could reach the site of the wedding ceremony at the top of a mountain with a panoramic view of the surrounding places below, they had to be cleared by two checkpoints and their cell phones and cameras deposited at the entrance. Thankfully, the slight drizzle fizzled out. At 5 o’clock, the wedding march started, to the tune of Ikaw Lamang. From where we were seated, the place felt so heady-high that if you reached out far and hard enough, you could touch the sky; you felt as if you were on top of the world. That was for sure how the groom, anchored to his mom Cielito Legaspi’s arm, felt at that very moment as he walked toward the altar. It was one rare day when the never-ending network war was set aside – a "ceasefire" in a manner of speaking – as the principal sponsors marched down the red carpet, a wide smile lighting up their faces. Could you imagine GMA executives arm-in-arm with executives of rival channel ABS-CBN: Gabby Lopez (ABS-CBN) and Wilma Galvante (GMA), Jimmy Duavit (GMA) and Charo Santos-Concio (ABS-CBN), and Felipe Gozon (GMA) and Malou N. Santos (ABS-CBN). Don’t you think the world would be better and happier if the temporary "reconciliation" was done for good? The casting coup was made possible only because the bride and the groom belong to "warring" networks (shades of Romeo and Juliet?), Raymart with GMA and Claudine with ABS-CBN. Other principal sponsors included Dr. Vicki Belo and Johnny "Mr. M" Manahan, Dolphy (whose partner would have been Vilma Santos), Susan Roces (and Dr. Perfecto Palafox), Virgie Ramos, Marichu "Manay Ichu" Maceda, Boots Anson-Roa, San Juan Mayor JV Ejercito (as proxy for his dad, former President Joseph Estrada), and former Sen. Tito Sotto and wife Helen Gamboa. Secondary sponsors from showbiz included Claudine’s sister Marjorie Barretto-Padilla (matron of honor); Assunta de Rossi, Ciara Sotto and Jenny Miller (bridesmaids); Raymart’s brother Rowell Santiago, Claudine’s brother-in-law Dennis Padilla and Bobby Andrews (groomsmen; Bobby’s wife Bienne was a bridesmaid); Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzalez (candle sponsors); Benjie Paras and Maricel Soriano (cord sponsors); and Edu Manzano (veil sponsor, with Yvette Oca, Claudine’s best friend). Resplendent in an off-shoulder gown by Randy Ortiz, Claudine gingerly walked on the red carpet lined with flowers imported from Holland, blushing like all brides. He was given away by her father, Miguel Alvir Barretto. As the ceremony started, a helicopter whirred overhead, carrying a cameraman from ABS-CBN which was doing an exclusive coverage (to be aired this Sunday, April 2; watch for it). The pilot himself showered petals on the site, turning the storybook fairy-tale wedding into something like a big scene from one of the couple’s movies. When Raymart delivered his "pledge of love," his voice cracked when he mentioned his late father, director-producer Pablo Santiago, "watching over us from up there," while his mom was "crying down here." Raymart called Claudine "my joy, my love, my wife." In return, Claudine promised to be a good wife to Raymart and a good mother to their children (they have an adopted daughter, Sabina Natasha B. Santiago, a flower girl). Halfway through the ceremony, Gary Valenciano (who came with wife Angeli Pangilinan) sang The Promise, choking with emotion at one point. The ceremony was over in an hour and a half. Then, the well-heeled guests retreated to the nearby banquet hall to partake of a dinner catered by Margarita Fores’ Cibo, consisting of such foreign-sounding (to this non-gourmet at least) entreés as Waterspinach Raviolo, Mushroom Trifolati; Pan-roasted Chilean Sea Bass; Green Apple Sgroppino; Roast Beef Tenderloin Tagliata; The Duetto (Crepe Millefoglio, Tiramisu Croccante) and, to accompany the big burp, Coffee or Tea? The program was hosted by Raymart’s brother Randy Santiago and Agot Isidro. Kuh Ledesma and Gary Valenciano sang a duet of Wedding Song, followed by Piolo Pascual solo with The Gift. The affair was capped by a dazzling fireworks display that obliterated the myriad flickering lights of the surrounding places below. It was an affair to remember. |

Walay,sapayan dong our Inday .Sus pag ka visaya gud sa atong artice karonong buntaga maayo buntag Cebu City ! Akong papa daga Cebu pod visaya pog akong sinulte-an . Na hala nalipay ko sa akong idol na nag minyo siya ni Raymart . Buotan na man pod siya na pag kalalaki lucky si mama Claudine og si Papa Raymart na hala denhe nalang kutob dele nalang nako tas-on ang akong sulat para dele ko masayup heheheheh God BlessLove u Claudine and Raymart more power and more cute baby to come hehehehe love u all!!! ;D ;) ;D ;D ;D

Gretchen, dedma sa kasalang Claudine-Raymart
Espesyal ang Marso 27 para kina Claudine Barretto at Raymart Santiago dahil no’ng araw na ‘yon sila ikinasal sa Tagaytay Highlands.
Pero para sa ate ni Claudine na si Gretchen Barretto, ordinaryong araw lang ‘yon.
Dedma si Grechen sa kasalang Claudine-Raymart noong Lunes.
Nang makausap namin kahapon ang isang malapit kay Gretchen, naikuwento nito na noong Lunes ay inihatid lang ng semi-retired actress ang anak niyang si Dominique sa Colegio de San Agustin sa Makati City.
Dumaan din si Gretchen sa clinic ng kanyang dermatologist para magpa-treatment.
Nakipag-lunch si Gretchen sa Shangri-La Hotel at nagpunta siya ng parlor para magpakulay ng buhok.
May mga nag-text din kay Gretchen para balitaan siya tungkol sa mga nangyayari sa wedding nina Claudine at Raymart, pero hindi excited ang lovey-dovey ni Tonyboy Cojuangco sa mga text na ‘yon.
Sabi pa ng source namin, mukhang matatagalan pa bago magkabati sina Gretchen at Claudine.

Sabi-sabi, nabawasan na raw kasi ang tensiyon sa pagitan ng Dos at Siyete pagkatapos ng ULTRA tragedy ng Wowowee.
Natuwa raw ang mga taga-Dos sa patas na pagre-report ng mga taga-Siyete kaugnay ng malagim na pangyayaring ‘yon.

Wedding halts network wars

THE network wars stopped momentarily as ABS-CBN star Claudine Barretto and GMA 7 contract artist Raymart Santiago walked down the aisle at the golf course in Tagaytay Highlands on Monday.
Top executives of both networks were paired with each other in the parade of sponsors: ABS-CBN’s Gabby Lopez walked with GMA 7’s Wilma Galvante; Felipe Gozum with Malu Santos; Charo Santos-Concio with Jimmy Duavit, among others.
But the most applauded duo were Star Magic’s Johnny Manahan and Dr. Vicki Belo.
Resplendent in a suit and looking very dignified, Manahan’s rare appearance in formal garb amused the stars whose careers he helped shape.
No one, however, could outshine the bride.
Clinging to her father Miguel’s arm, Claudine looked every inch like an ethereal goddess in her gown by Randy Ortiz.
Magical
These were just some of the magical scenes recounted to Inquirer Entertainment by Star Magic manager Rikka Dylim.
“They got their wish for a solemn wedding,” said Dylim, Claudine’s longtime friend and talent manager.
A drizzle stalled the ceremony for about 10 minutes. But after the shower, everything else went on smoothly, recounted Dylim.
“The ceremony was short, barely an hour,” Dylim added.
Raymart cried when he read his vows. He explained later that his parents Pablo and Cielito Santiago had exchanged vows on the same date 40 years ago.
Claudine also cried when she read her vows, said Dylim.
As if on cue, soft rain fell again shortly after Raymart and Claudine were pronounced man and wife.
Tent party
The wedding guests partied inside the tents set up near the clubhouse. Main catering was by Gaita Forres, and Hizon’s laid out a dessert buffet that featured a chocolate fountain.
Gary Valenciano sang “The Prayer” during the ceremonies. Kuh Ledesma sang “Evergreen” during the reception. Piolo Pascual sang “My Gift.”
Randy Santiago, Raymart’s older brother, and Agot Isidro emceed a short program during the reception. The youngest couple and the oldest couple were picked out from among the guests. Willie Revillame and Liz Almora were the youngest couple; a Japanese pair was named oldest couple.
Single men and women participated in a game in which each one ended up with a Timex watch—a reminder that they didn’t have all the time in the world to look for partners.
But for Claudine and Raymart, the search was over.

THE wedding of Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto at the Tagaytay Highlands in Tagaytay City last Monday was strictly and truly a family affair. Both Raymart and Claudine belong to big families. No wonder that half, if not more than half, of their 300 guests were either Santiagos or Barrettos.
For their principal sponsors, they chose those whom they consider as second parents. It was indeed an afternoon to remember with the presence of top brass officers from two warring networks. All together, they marched to the altar to join a beaming Raymart who was waiting for his bride Claudine. They were ABS-CBN’s CEO and president Gabby Lopez and GMA-7’s lady boss Wilma Galvante and big boss Atty. Felipe Gozon and Star Cinema managing director Malou Santos.
Other celebrity principal sponsors included Dr. Vicky Belo, Ichu Maceda, director Johnny Manahan, Conie Reyes, Susan Roces, Virgie Ramos, Dolphy, Boots Anson-Roa, former Senator Tito Sotto and his wife, Helen Gamboa.
Claudine enthuses, "Now, more than ever, I discovered that dreams really come true. Halimbawa, itong wedding ko. Did you know that I dreamt about this kind of wedding teenager pa lamang ako? Walang labis, walang kulang na natupad itong lahat.
I just feel grateful to Raymart for all these. He is truly God-sent. With him for a husband, parang wala nang kulang sa buhay ko."
But between them, it was Raymart who turned emotional during the wedding ceremony. He choked as he read the vows to hold and to love Claudine all his life. His voice, likewise cracked when he read a message addressed to his late father, director Pablo Santiago, and mother Cielito Legaspi.
Both Raymart and Claudine are the youngest in their families.
The couple will go to Europe for their honeymoon.
Surprisingly, the newly weds are not in a hurry to have children. With Sabina, their nearly two year-old adopted daughter, they seem satisfied having her around to give their love and care.
She explains though, "But if God wills na magkaanak kami kaagad, we’ll consider that a bonus. Raymart and I love children. Bukod kay Sabina, nandiyan pa ang marami naming mga pamangkin."
By the way, all of Claudine’s pamangkin, including Dominique, Gretchen’s only daughter with Tony Boy Cojuangco, call her "Auntie Ganda."
Was Gretchen missed at the wedding? Someone replies, "I don’t think so. But had she (Gretchen) been there, her presence would have made a great difference. The attention of everyone would have been divided between the couple and Gretchen. Thus, I think it was a wise move on her part not to attend the wedding. Tiyak, magiging sentro na naman siya ng controversy, kung nagkataon."
Where their respective showbiz careers are concerned, nothing will change, according to the couple. "As much as possible nga, we hope to keep ourselves busy. The more work we have, the better for us. But, of course, on off hours, we, together with Sabina, want to spend naman quality time. Talk about bonding," Claudine laughs.
She continues, "Siguro, dapat dadalawin namin individually ang pamilya ng aming mga kapatid. Sa amin kasi, all of us are married. Kina Raymart, alam kong wala na lang asawa ay ang Kuya Rowell niya. Their moms live with him."
Claudine has just finished shooting for her horror-suspense movie, "Sukob," with Kris Aquino. The film is directed by Chito Roño and produced by Star Cinema.
Raymart has a regular sitcom on GMA-7, "Lagot Ka, Isusumbong Kita."

Claudinian - ang date ni papa Piols ay ang mommy niya. Heh, baka nag-fantasize ang mommy niya na sana sila ang nagkatuluyan. Eh di ba kasi she likes Claudine rin? Hehe, I know you & Roda must think I'm still dreaming. Well, I guess the dreaming had to stop. :( But, I'm still very happy for Claudine because I know Raymart loves her very much. You can just see it.
Btw....kala ko ba part ng entourage si JS? Eh bakit not only was she not part of it but her attendance was not mentioned at all. Wala lang. ::) |
