CASTING COUP OF LOVE AND DREAMS FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THE BIG SCREEN IN “DUBAI”
Star Cinema is now associated with movies for the family and the Filipino in a global way. That’s why it never ceases to produce cinematic gems that feature lives and even loves of the Pinoy in Milan, Hong Kong, Japan. Now the premiere film outfit brings everybody to “Dubai”, starring Aga Muhlach, Claudine Barretto and John Lloyd Cruz.
“Dubai” also marks the return of director Rory B. Quintos on the big screen. It’s her follow up to the hit movie “Kailangan Kita” that also starred Aga and Claudine in their memorable and successful first big screen team up.
Initially making his mark in his string of sweet successes like “My First Romance” and “Now That I Have You”, “Dubai” will elevate John Lloyd Cruz to his most mature role.
It also marks the screenplay collaboration of award-winning writers Ricky Lee and Shaira Mella Salvador. Aga and John Lloyd makes an instant chemistry on screen playing brothers Raffy and Andrew. Two boys with humble backgrounds but have big dreams to make it big in the future and secure themselves for each other. In short, they stick together whatever happens. When Raffy gets employment in Dubai and experiences a comfortable life, younger brother Andrew follows having the same dreams and aspirations. But when Faye crossed their paths, little did the brothers know everything between them will lead to other decisions.
It’s title alone already speaks so much of the affinity Pinoys have with the city in the Middle East. Dubai has now become one of the new cosmopolitans for Pinoys to make their dreams come true. An urban melting pot where Filipinos go to for employment and show their abilities being unique citizens of the world. This means “Dubai” is not only a movie Pinoys can relate to. It is Star Cinema’s fulfillment of a promise ---- a movie that features the lives of Pinoys in Dubai. Like many of Star Cinema’s classics, “Dubai” features wondrous locations that enhance the beauty of its stories. “Dubai” is set to become unforgettable with the lines of marvelous skyscrapers in Shiek Zayed and Al Ain cities to the trademark Camels and the immeasurable ‘Sand Dunes,’ the mountain-like dessert land that happens to be one of the most important landmarks of Dubai and the Middle East.
“Ikaw Lamang”, the movie’s theme song is also a perfect signature. Interpreted and recorded by Gary Valenciano, this Ogie Alcasid original tune will surely enhance the inspirational and love mood the movie sends to everyone.
A movie that offers inspiration and hope and tells love is important to your aspirations in life and the fulfillment of your dreams. On September 28, “Dubai” opens worldwide in Dubai, Milan, Italy; San Francisco; Vancouver, Canada; Vienna, Austria; Hawaii; Saipan; Guam; and over 100 theaters nationwide in the Philippines.

another post ni julie :
ITO pa po galing kay ethel ramos about po kay AGA kaya kuha ko lang about sa dubai!!!!!!!!!
Do you know that "Dubai" is Claudine Barretto’s third movie dealing with life abroad?
A few years ago, if you recall, Claudine starred with Vilma Santos in "Anak." Directed by Rory Quintos, "Anak" was a critically acclaimed and a commercial hit. It was filmed almost in its entirely in Hong Kong, as Vilma played the role of an overseas Filipino worker.
Claudine never had the chance, though, to shoot a scene in Hong Kong but she was with Vilma when "Anak" had a premiere in the Crown Colony.
"Milan," which won for its director Olive Lamasan a best director trophy, was filmed in its entirely in Italy. The blockbuster film, which was also critically acclaimed, also won for Claudine and her leading man, Piolo Pascual, several acting trophies.
"Dubai" reunites Claudine with her "Kailangan Kita" leading man, Aga Muhlach. John Lloyd Cruz also is with them. Director is Rory Quinto.
"Dubai" was filmed in cosmopolitan Dubai, where Aga and John Lloyd, who play brothers, work.
Moviegoers will feel like tourists as they watch the movie unfold. They are expected to marvel at the sights of Dubai’s skyscrapers in the Shiek Zayed and Al Ain cities, the sand dunes and other eye-popping scenery.

haha for sure petmama .. im excited na rin .. this movie falls on my birthmonth .. ang saya saya!! hahaha another article from the Philippine Star : From Dubai with love The Philippine Star 08/25/2005 In case you haven’t noticed, Star Cinema has been bringing moviegoers around the world on the wings of love – love stories, that is, that are set in various places in the world. A few years ago, Star Cinema filmed a virtual love story between a mother and a daughter separated by years but brought back together by familial love, in Hong Kong. The movie, Anak, starred Vilma Santos and Claudine Barretto and directed by Rory Quintos, was a big hit. Two years ago, Star Cinema brought Piolo Pascual and Claudine Barretto together in Milan, filmed in that famed Italian City, directed by Olivia Lamasan. It was also critically and commercially successful. Now, Star Cinema will bring moviegoers to the cosmopolitan Dubai via beautiful love story calculated to make everybody feel romantic again and at the same time sympathize with Filipino Overseas Workers (OFW). Directed by Rory Quintos, Dubai brings back the hit Kailangan Kita team-up of Aga Muhlach and Claudine Barretto, with John Lloyd Cruz as the other star. In the story written by Ricky Lee and Shaira Mella Salvador (their first screenplay collaboration), Aga and John Lloyd play brothers who promise to stick to each other no matter what happens. When Aga as Raffy gets settled in Dubai, he asked John Lloyd as Andrew to Join him. Little do they know that their lives would be challenged and their sibling bonding put to the test when Claudine as Faye crosses their paths. Dubai was filmed entirely in Dubai in such a way that the moviegoers will feel like a tourist as they watch a beautiful love story unfold. The audience will marvel at the sights of Dubai’s skyscrapers in the Shiek Zayed and Al Ain cities, the Sand Dunes and other eye-popping scenery. The movie’s theme song is the Ogie Alcasid composition, Ikaw Lamang, sung by Gary Valenciano. Dubai will have its world premiere on Sept. 28 in Milan, San Francisco, Vancouver and Vienna as well as in more than 100 theaters all over the Philippines. ---- the print version has a pic .. i bought the newspaper, i'll scan it tonight

Kahapon nga I called one of our customer (lalake siya) pero he's also a big fan of Claudine. I told him he's got to go see the movie with me kasi my hubby is not into the Pinoy showbiz. So sama siya at ang misis niya. Btw I have a cute story about him. I sent him an email about Claudine pero di ko binanggit ang name ni Claudine. Sabi ko "hoy ang gf mo ang ganda-ganda ngayon". The next day, he called me. Sabi niya nabasa daw ng wife niya ang email ko tapos inaway siya. Tawa lang daw siya ng tawa tapos he told her I was talking about Claudine. Hehe, pahiya ang misis. ;D
Thanks Jen for the article.
