This is from July but a very nice article.
Doing time with Claudine
Claudine Margaret Estella Barretto has come a long way indeed…. from a fresh faced teenager in ‘Ang TV,’ to the soon–to–be–wed, award-winning actress we now have today.
With so many things happening in rapid transition in the actress’ life, a reporter found her at rest on the makeup chair in between set-ups of Timex’s new ad campaign to talk about the joys of motherhood and her daughter, and the impending forever that comes after the wedding.
So what usually goes through your mind when you’re on that make-up chair?
(Laughing) What time I’m going to finish?
Are you busier this year than you were the year before?
I think it’s just the same, although I did ask for a two-month break so I could spend time with my daughter.
What did you have to change in your lifestyle in order to accommodate everything that’s happening to you today?
My time. Now, I have Sabina, I make it a point that Sundays are untouchable – unless it’s really really important like big promos for movies or soap operas. Nobody is allowed to touch my Sundays, especially during the day because that’s when I go to church and spend time with my family.
How much have you changed because of your daughter?
A lot. She’s really such a blessing. She’s my joy. When you have a baby in the house, everything just changes. You want to go to church more. You want to save up for her future. I’m not so extravagant on myself anymore. Now I always think of her first. It’s true when they say that when you have a kid, you always think of her first.
What do you really make sure you have time for?
Church. I always look forward to Sunday.
What bores you?
Waiting. I don’t know. You’re supposed to get used to waiting, but up to now, I can’t be too patient. People sometimes don’t have respect for other people’s time. It’s a waste of energy, time and focus. If everything’s organized, it would’ve been easier.
So how long are you willing to wait?
30 minutes – maybe an hour if there’s a good reason. I was trained ever since "Mula sa Puso" – when they say I have to be in at this time, I come exactly at that time.
If you only have 24 hours left to spend here on earth...
I would spend time with my family.
So if ever you had to choose between work and family...
I hope that never happens, but if it does, I’ll still choose my family. Families are supposed to be your first priority. But I have no plans of quitting showbiz – but I won’t be as busy. Like I won’t do soap operas and movies at the same time. I won’t do that again.
How do you choose your movies?
I only do one movie a year, but I make sure that it’s a movie that people will remember. Usually when I shoot a movie, it takes 7 months to a year. Like a Hollywood film. Unlike other movies that get wrapped after just a month. Film is supposed to be fulfilling, even in the products you endorse, the movies that you do, I make it a point to really prepare for it, I study the script; I make sure that my role can’t be compared or have similarities with other roles that I’ve done.
You don’t endorse that many products, but the ones you do stand out. What made you choose Timex?
Because I really like their watches. I only endorse the things that I really like. I only endorse the things that I really really use, or the things that I can use and wear. Otherwise, I would be just fooling myself, right?
How do you feel about forever?
I’m looking forward to it. It’s not scary for me. When the right guy comes, you’re not scared. People usually ask me that question. They’re telling me, "You’re at the peak of your career, there are lots of plans for you. Sana wag ka munang magpakasal. Siguro after two years or pag 28 ka na – 30 ka na..."
It’s not that I’m scared, but to risk everything, to risk your career for Raymart and Sabina, that’s scarier than the wedding, don’t you think? This is my decision, and I’m comfortable. I’m excited. I can’t wait. I just hate the preparations. Sakit sa ulo! Other than that, I’m so ready.
