Gretchen invited to Claudine’s wedding
By SHIRLEY MATIAS PIZARRO
Claudine Barretto revealed in an interview that she and her sister Gretchen Barretto are in good terms now and that her older sister has been invited to attend her wedding in January of next year.
"Okay na kami ng Ate ko. Matagal na. Nag-usap kami siguro noong January pa. I just didn’t feel the need to come out in public to discuss it, or the details when it happened. All I can say now is that we’re really okay," Claudine revealed during an interview right after the press conference for her new Star Cinema movie "Dubai" two days ago in Quezon City.
Claudine said she has invited Gretchen to attend her wedding but was not sure whether she will be part of the entourage. "We’re still finalizing the details of the wedding as of now. We might even change the date because there are so many other things to consider. And I have to talk to my Ate also, if she would want a part," Claudine informed the Manila Bulletin.
On the question of bringing her two older sisters during the special occasion, Claudine said, "Gretchen and Marjorie are okay now, too. We may not be seeing each other but I think we’re all okay now. We may not be discussing the details between us but suffice it to say that I believe that there was no need to do that anymore. Wala na yon. We’re sisters after all," the soon-to-be bride to Raymart Santiago added.
ABS-CBN, being Claudine’s mother network, will be the official carrier of the much-awaited wedding day. Claudine said Raymart, who is a GMA-7 contract artist, has given her this liberty. "Pinag-usapan naman po namin and Raymart let me have that decision. Kasi sabi niya, since a wedding day is always the day of the bride, he let me decide on that part. He was the one who spoke with his bosses in GMA-7 and they understood naman po. Wala namang problema doon," she said.
Claudine said they might move the date of the wedding from first week of January to probably the third or fourth week to allow them more time to prepare. "We feel we need to give more time to those who will be part of the occasion. Since ‘Dubai’ will be premiering worldwide, everyone in ABS will be very busy leaving them not enough time to prepare for Christmas. It would be best to allow them enough time to prepare a few days before the wedding," she said.
Claudine co-stars with Aga Muhlach and John Lloyd Cruz in the new movie directed by Rory Quintos and which dramatizes the plight of Filipino overseas workers. The movie holds its world premiere on Sept. 28 in Dubai, Milan, Italy, San Francisco, Vancouver, Canada; Vienna, Austria; Hawaii, Saipan, Guam and the Philippines.
