RAYMART Santiago wants to marry Claudine Barretto, his girlfriend of almost six months, within the next two years.
He also wants them to marry on a July 20, which is the birthday of both stars
"Para tipid," joked Raymart, who is turning 30 this July. "Sayang ang mga lobo."
Claudine will turn 24 on the same day.
Raymart admitted to Inquirer Entertainment that he has not proposed marriage to Claudine, although they have been discussing settling down since they became sweethearts in November 2002.
"I hope it's really going to be Claudine because I want her to be the mother of my kids," Raymart said. "I want to have only two kids."
Raymart recently gave Claudine a diamond ring, but he stressed that it was not an engagement ring.
Last year, he bought a house in Quezon City. He is still paying for it up to now, he said.
"I want the house to be fully paid for before I settle down," he said.
Raymart said he wants a traditional church ceremony.
He said he has learned a lot by being with Claudine.
"She taught me how to pray the rosary everyday," he said. "Lately, by the time I leave the house, I would have prayed the rosary."
Claudine once said in a TV interview that "Raymart is the best thing that ever happened to me." She is very close to Raymart's family. Raymart's mom Cielito Legaspi calls her "anak."
Raymart said he would not ask Claudine to quit show biz even after they marry.
"Ako ang hihinto, siya ang magta-trabaho," he joked again.
He said the sexiest girl for him "has got to be Claudine. I don't look at other girls anymore."
Raymart talked about his plans to marry Claudine even as he faced robbery charges filed by the driver of a truck that hit the actor's Expedition recently.
Truck driver Frederick Lorenzana, of Novaliches, Quezon City, alleged that Raymart forced him to surrender his professional driver's license. He said he had kept 1,500 pesos in the jacket of the driver's license.
Raymart shrugged off the complaint.
"He even accused me of beating him up when I only pushed him," Raymart said. "Now, he's accusing me of stealing his money. Why would I steal 1,500 pesos?"
Raymart admits he lost his cool and pushed the truck driver when Claudine cried after the accident.
"I never make Claudine cry, so I got mad when she cried because she got scared," Raymart said.
Lorenzana said he was driving the truck last May 13 when, at 11:45 p.m., he accidentally hit Santiago's Expedition van on Katipunan Avenue in front of Miriam College in Loyola Heights, Quezon City.
Raymart said he and Claudine don't often have the time to go out because of their busy schedules in show business. But when they do get the chance, they like to watch movies, often at Greenhills Theater, which is near their houses.
Raymart tapes on Mondays and Fridays for the new GMA 7 soap, "Narito Ako."
"I accepted the role in a soap for a change," he said. "This is the first time I'm doing a soap."
On Wednesdays, he tapes for the GMA 7 sitcom, "Kool Ka Lang," which is now on its fifth year.
"Kool Ka Lang," which also stars Parañaque Mayor Joey Marquez, Jomari Yllana and Benjie Paras, recently added more members to its cast-sexy stars Maui Taylor and Alessandra de Rossi, and TV news reporter Love Añover.
